Windows 7 has been a great product from Microsoft.Its features like problem step recoder( psr),sticky notes,new calculator,improved notepad and wordpad are wonderful.What I did not liked is its logon screen.So I decided to change the background of the logon screen to my custom wallpaper.I found three methods to change the logon screen and i will explain all of the three methods in this post.

1.Using Logonstudio:-Logonstudio is a free application provided by stardock.This application is compatible with Microsoft windows 7,vista and xp.It comes preloaded with many beautiful logon screens and you can literally thousands of them from wincustomize.com .Logonstudio is fairly simple to use all you have to do is the select the background theme and apply it.

The system requirements for windows logonstudio are

Windows 7, Vista or XP

●Minimum screen resolution: 1024 width and 768 height

●10MB free drive space

●512MB RAM

2. Windows 7 Logon Screen Rotator:-This utility is of great use for all those who likes change.You can specify 10 images that will be changed every time you logon to your windows.So,you wont have to get bored by seeing the same logon screen over and again.The best part of this utility is that not installation is required for it.To use this application you have to do the following things.

1Open the zip file.Click on the exe file.

2.Now specify the custom wallpapers you want to use as logon screen.

3.Click on “Enable and Exit”.And that’s it.You will see a new logon screen when you login next time.

4.Now if any time you feel the that you want to revert back to original windows 7 logon screen then click on”revert to windows 7 default logon screen”.

Note:this application requires that your custom wallpapers should be less then 256 kb in size.

3. Windows 7 Logon Screen Changer:-This is another utility that will allow you to change the logon screen.It is fairly simple to use.It also provides an option to revert back to the original windows 7 logon screen.

Encrypt/Lock Computer Drives Or Pendrive In Windows 7

Microsoft Bitlocker drive encryption is used to encrypt/lock any Local drive or removable drives like pendrives.Bitlocker encrypts the drives using 128 bit key.Once the drives are encrypted/locked it can only opened using the password.Microsoft introduced bitlocker encryption in windows vista.The bitlocker feature is currently available in Ultimate and Enterprise editions of windows 7 ,Vista as well as the Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 .Bitlocker requires that your hard disk should have atleast two NTFS drives :One of the operating system and the other with a minimum size of 100 MB.

1.Plugin your Pendrive into your Usb port.

(Skip the above step if you want to lock/encrypt a local drive)

2.Click on Start button and type Bitlocker and click on BitLocker Drive Encryption

3.Now you can see all local drives and your pendrive(If you have plugged in any)

4.Now click on Turn on BitLocker in front of the drive you want to lock/Encrypt.

5.Now it will ask you to choose your password

6.Once you have entered your password click Next you will be now asked to save the password or take a print out.

Note:If you save your password in your computer then make sure that it at some safe place.

7.Now bitlocker will start encrypting your drive.The encryption time varies according to the size of the drive.

8.If you have encrypted/locked a local drive then you will see a lock in front of the drive.

9.If you have encrypted/locked a pendrive then you will see a bitlocker setup file when you put this pendrive in computer.Install this in another computer.

(If bitlocker is already installed in another system then this step is not required.)

10.Now it will prompt you to enter your password.

Trick To Enable/Unlock Hidden Themes In Windows 7

Windows 7 has been a real delight for the eyes due to its excellent graphics.By defualt Windows 7 has 5 themes enabled for all countries but there are additional themes which are country specific and enabled according to your demographic location.In this tutorial I will show you how to enable/unlock the country specific hidden themes in windows 7.Once enabled these themes will always be available to you.There are two ways to enable these hidden themes.I will explain both of them to you and you can use any one of them whichever you find easy.

Method 1:-

1.Goto Control Panel.

2.Click on Folder Options.

Note:- If Folder options is not available ,change the view to large icons at top-right corner of the screen

3.Now Click On the View tab.

4.Now uncheck the box Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

5.It will show you a warning.Click Yes.

6.Now Goto C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT\

7.Inside this folder you will see folders with name MCT-XX where XX will be AU,CA etc.These are the country codes in which these themes are automatically available.

8.Inside each MCT-XX you will see a Theme folder.Open it and click on the .theme file to unlock it.

9.Once unlocked the theme will be available to you in personalization option.

METHOD 2:-This is a simple method as compared to the above method

You can install any version of windows like windows xp,vista,7,2003,2008 using usb drive.As usb have become very common and affordable these days everbody caaries a usb.This tutorial doesnot uses the command prompt method for installing windows from usb instead I will give you a new and a simpler method to install the windows from the usb drive.For this tutorial we will require the following things

• Windows Dvd or it’s ISO image
• Optical drive emulation software( like demon tools)
• Wintoflash software
• USB drive (minimum 4 gb)

All the software that we will be using in this tutorial are free and their downloads links are given in the post.

1.Download and Install Demon tools.Click here to download

(Note:Skip this step if you already have any other optical drive emulation software or Windows Dvd)

2.Mount the windows ISO Image using demon tools.

4.Extract Wintoflash rar folder and click on Wintoflash.exe.This software doesnot require installation.

5.Now click on Advanced Mode Tab in the Wintoflash window

6.It will give you various options.Select the one that you want to perform.

7.Now it will ask you for the path of your windows.Give the address of the mounted windows drive or the dvd drive(if you have windows dvd) and also give the path of the usb drive .

8.Click on Run.

9.It will warn you that you usb will be formatted continue with it and it will convert your usb into bootable windows usb drive.

10.Restart your computer and change the boot order in your BIOS .
